How Much Do You Know About a Welding Torch

The welding torch is a gas welding torch that can be ignited electronically and has a locking function.
It will not hurt the weld tip if it is used continuously.

What are the main components of a welding torch?
What precautions should be taken when using welding torchs?
How do you choose a welding torch?

What are the main components of a welding torch?

1. Wire nozzle. It is also known as the contact tip and generally consists of pure copper and chrome bronze. In order to ensure the good electrical conductivity of the welding torch, to reduce the wire forward resistance and to ensure centrifugation, the diameter of the internal bore of the welding wire nozzle must be chosen according to the diameter of the welding wire. If the opening is too small, the wire forward resistance is high. If the hole diameter is too large, the end of the welded wire is too strong, leading to an uneven welding and poor protection. Usually the diameter of the wire nozzle is approximately 0.2 mm larger than the wire diameter.
2. Shunt. The shunt consists of insulating ceramics with evenly distributed small holes. After the protective gas sprayed by the welding torch has passed the shunt, it is sprayed evenly from the nozzle in a laminar current, which can improve the protective effect.
3. Cable cable. The outer surface of the hollow tube cable is a rubber insulating hose, and there are spring hoses, copper conductor cable, protective gas pipes and control lines. The standard length is 3 m. If required, a 6 m long hollow tube can be used. It consists of spring screw, inner insulation housing and control wire.

What precautions should be taken when using welding torchs?

(1) Never touch the burner head after the welding torch has been connected. If you accidentally touch it, it will definitely burn and cause blisters, so you need to rinse it quickly.
(2) After prolonged use, there are details on the welding torch head and it must be cleaned with a wiper to keep it clean
(3) If the weld burner is located on the weld burner stand, be careful not to touch the items next to the stand;
(4) After using the welding torch, pull the plug and wait ten minutes for it to cool down before removing it.

How do you choose a flame welding torch?

The burners used for gas welding are similar to those used for gas welding. There are a variety of specifications, nominal values, designs, suitable for automatic and semi-automatic welding torchs, air cooled and water cooled. Although the protective gas is very cool when passing through the welding torch, it has a cooling effect on the welding torch, the air-cooled welding torch for cooling depends on the discharge of heat to the ambient air. The welding torch is selected mainly according to the welding current and the protective gas used. Water-cooled burners are generally used for 500 Ampere or more streams. Some welding torchs still prefer water-cooled burners when the welding current used is less than 500 amperes.
