Application of nitrogen generator in pharmaceutical industry

Nitrogen generator (also called nitrogen generator) is a device that uses compressed air as raw material and uses an adsorbent called carbon molecular sieve to selectively adsorb nitrogen and oxygen to separate nitrogen in the air. According to different classification methods, there are three types: cryogenic air separation, pressure swing adsorption (PSA) nitrogen production and membrane air separation.

In terms of technical principles, the nitrogen generator is a nitrogen equipment designed and manufactured based on pressure swing adsorption technology. The nitrogen generator uses imported carbon molecular sieve (CMS) as the adsorbent and uses the pressure swing adsorption principle (PSA) at normal temperature to separate air to produce high-purity nitrogen. Usually, two adsorption towers are connected in parallel, and the imported PLC controls the automatic operation of the imported pneumatic valve to alternately perform pressurized adsorption and decompression regeneration to complete the separation of nitrogen and oxygen and obtain the required high-purity nitrogen.

In terms of work flow, the nitrogen generator compresses the air through a compressor and enters the cold dryer for freeze drying to meet the dew point requirements of the pressure swing adsorption nitrogen generator system for the raw air. It then passes through a filter to remove oil and water in the raw air and enters the air buffer tank to reduce pressure fluctuations. Afterwards, the pressure is adjusted to the rated working pressure through the pressure regulating valve and sent to two adsorbers (built-in carbon molecular sieves), where the air is separated and nitrogen is produced. The raw air enters one of the adsorbers to produce nitrogen; the other adsorber decompresses and regenerates. The two adsorbers work alternately, continuously supply raw air, and continuously produce nitrogen. The nitrogen is sent to the nitrogen buffer tank, and the pressure is adjusted to the rated pressure through the pressure regulating valve; it is then measured by a flow meter and analyzed and tested by a nitrogen analyzer. Qualified nitrogen is reserved and unqualified nitrogen is vented (when the nitrogen generator is just started).

The nitrogen generator can produce nitrogen quickly and conveniently. Because of its advanced technology and unique air flow distributor, the air flow is distributed more evenly. It makes full use of carbon molecular sieves and can provide qualified nitrogen in about 20 minutes. It is easy to use, and the equipment has a compact structure and an integrated structure. Skid-mounted, it occupies a small area and requires no infrastructure investment. The investment is low. Nitrogen can be produced on site by simply connecting the power supply. It is more economical than other nitrogen supply methods. Because the PSA process is a simple nitrogen production method that uses air as raw material, it can It consumes only the electric energy consumed by the air compressor, and has the advantages of low operating cost, low energy consumption and high efficiency. With the advancement of automation technology, the nitrogen generator realizes automated operation based on mechatronics design, that is, imported PLC controls fully automatic operation, and the nitrogen flow, pressure, and purity are adjustable and continuously displayed, allowing for unattended operation.

In the pharmaceutical industry, the requirements for medicinal nitrogen are very high and require high purity. The difference between medicinal nitrogen generators and other nitrogen equipment is that the international standard GMP standard in the pharmaceutical industry stipulates that parts in contact with drugs or liquids must be made of stainless steel and sterilization requirements. The equipment needs to be made of stainless steel, and the nitrogen outlet of the equipment must be made of stainless steel. Install a sterilizing filter device. Also because pharmaceutical factories have high overall requirements for equipment, they usually have configurations. It is understood that with the improvement of GMP standards, many pharmaceutical machinery industries are also working hard in this area, and many high-purity medicinal nitrogen generators that meet the standards have appeared on the market. Medicinal high-purity nitrogen generator is suitable for food and pharmaceutical industries, water injections, powder injections, large infusion drugs, and biochemical and isolated transportation nitrogen supply equipment. It is mainly composed of compressed air post-processing system, PSA pressure swing adsorption system and gas precision filtration. It consists of three systems including the bacterial system.

According to industry insiders, the medicinal high-purity nitrogen generator adopts the latest international PSA nitrogen production process, highly polished stainless steel and a unique adsorber structural design to ensure the production of high-purity nitrogen (higher than international oxygen-free requirements), which can The nitrogen purity reaches above 99.99%, with no heat source and no colonies, and complies with the GMP production requirements of the international pharmaceutical industry. At the same time, the automatic control and monitoring system is adopted to realize automatic operation of the equipment, which can be unattended and is widely used in the pharmaceutical industry.

Only equipment that meets standards can ensure the safety of pharmaceutical production. Nitrogen generator equipment companies should abide by honest management and work hard to improve equipment performance and technology to better serve the pharmaceutical industry.
